This course is intended to provide a broad-based understanding of clinical laboratory instrumentation principles, their specific applications and the process of instrument selection as well calibration and maintenance to produce quality and trustable findings. The course will cover essential lab instruments, like spectrophotometers, ion-selective electrodes, centrifuges, electronic balances and turbido-meters. Moreover, other sophisticated instruments will be discussed, like: hematology analyzers, coagulation instruments, automated clinical chemistry analyzers, electrophoresis, chromatography and immunochemical methodologies.
