This course is intended to introduce the diagnostic microbiology practice on the organ system approach by covering various topics: clinical microbiology lab organization and safety measures, specimen management, performance improvement in microbiology laboratory, appropriate sample collection and processing. Moreover, it covers the identification of pathogenic microorganisms, antimicrobial susceptibility testing and selection of therapy.
